A winter wedding at the Story Mansion

January in Bozeman, nine hours of coverage, and about forty minutes of usable outdoor light. Here is how that gets planned.

A January wedding in Montana gives you sunset at 5:10 and a ceremony that ends at 4:40. There is no improvising your way through that. We built the whole timeline backward from the light.

First look at 2:15 in the upstairs hall, where the south windows do most of the work. Wedding party portraits on the staircase at 2:45. Family groups immediately after the ceremony, indoors, done in twelve minutes because the list was written a week ahead.

At 4:55 we took the couple out to the porch for six minutes in the last blue light with a single light stand. Six minutes. That is the whole outdoor portfolio from this wedding and it is the set they printed.

Nine hours, two photographers, 740 delivered files, gallery live in nineteen days.
